Donald J. Navit, 89, a longtime resident of Frackville, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, February 22, 2026.

Born in Kulpmont on November 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Brazinsky) and John Navit, and stepson of the late Edward Jones. Don was a graduate of the former Ringtown High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he earned several marksmanship awards.

A hardworking and dedicated businessman, Don owned and operated Donald J. Navit Contracting Company and Daisy Auto Parts in Frackville for many years. He later served as a project manager with the Schuylkill County Housing Authority until his retirement. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Frackville.

Don found joy in caring for his home and automobiles, and he was known for his love of cooking and baking. An avid reader, he especially enjoyed The New York Times crossword puzzles. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Above all, Don cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Margie (Hetherington) Navit; his two sons, Rev. Zachary W. Navit and Donald E. Navit; and his cherished grandchildren, Arthur Navit and Amelia Navit, who lovingly knew him as "Pop."

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated by his son, Rev. Zachary W. Navit, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 49 North Line Street, Frackville, on Tuesday, March 3, at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church, prior to Mass.

Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ringtown.

In lieu of flowers, please consider Mass cards, or memorial donations made to the Missionaries of Charity, 536 West South Street, Mahanoy City, PA 17948, or the Little Sisters of the Poor, Holy Family Home, 5300 Chester Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19143. May he rest in peace.

The Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, is honored to serve Don's family during their time of need. You may leave an online condolence at www.ringtownfuneral.com
