Bernice H. Stange, 89, of Mount Pocono passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital-Monroe campus, surrounded by loved ones who stayed by her side. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Enggaard and Edith (Hallig) Pedersen. Bernice was the beloved wife and soulmate of the late Walter J. Stange. Bernice was an avid gardener with a green thumb who passionately raised multiple varieties of flowers triumphantly to bloom. She was also a life member of the Pocono Garden Club and attended the yearly Philadelphia Flower show often. In addition to her knack for plants, she delighted in thrifting at local salvation armies and goodwills. There was little she enjoyed more than hunting for treasures, looking for gifts for her family members, and catching up with the friends she would seldom cross paths with. Bernice had a pure and giving heart fit perfectly for helping others. She adored accomplishing community service hours while she was a member of the Monroe County Senior Volunteer Program. She chose to dedicate one summer week every year supporting and aiding the Pocono Mountain Fire Company’s annual Carnival among other charitable acts. Bernice was proud of her Viking ancestry which inspired her to be strong and resilient in the face of adversity. Bernice was also bilingual and spoke fluent Danish along with her vast knowledge on Scandinavian Culture, which she often attended Festivals for. She loved animals of all kinds, owning multiple cats in her lifetime who she cared for deeply. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who was loyal and faithful to her family, always thinking of them first.

Bernice will be dearly missed and eternally remembered by her son, Walter Stange; daughters, Laura Simeone and her husband Joseph and Robin Garneau and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Rosanne Simeone, Lynette Simeone, Larissa Garneau, Nicole Mauser and husband Arron and William Stange, and great grandchildren, Hunter Simeone, Hayley Simeone and a soon expected great granddaughter, Willow Simeone.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2026, in the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco Pa 18326 where the family will receive and welcome friends and relatives from 12 noon until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be appreciatively made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, National Breast Cancer Foundation, CancerCare, and to the American Cancer society. Bernice’s family thanks you for any feasible and comfortable donations towards the noble cause of improving the lives of Cancer patients.

Alternatively, you can plant a tree in Bernice’s memory through the link provided, honoring her joy of nurturing nature.
