George E. Jones, 77, of Tobyhanna passed away April 16, 2026. Born in Warren, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Jones and Eleanor (Jiggerts) Jones.

George attended Henderson Institute in NC and graduated in 1968; he was active on their basketball team. He moved to New York City in 1969 where he began working in retail at JCPenney. In 1972 he was employed at UPS and worked there until retirement 32 years later. George relocated to the Poconos in 2004.

George had many friends over the course of his life. His best friend Mike and Susanne were more like family. He would frequently return to North Carolina, Virginia, and New Hampshire to visit family. He was an avid basketball player and continued playing well into his fifties. George also loved fashion, always well dressed, and he loved his cars.

He will be lovingly remembered by his life partner of 46 years, Patricia Paterson; daughters: Quiana Jones (Jarvis Hardy) and Anninka Carty (Anthony Carty); sons: George E. Jons (Danielle Jones) and Eric Timothy Jones; grandchildren: Tierra Moore, Shondell Moore, Addison, Sofyre Carty, Dolce Carty, and Leland Jones; great-grandchildren: Ivyana Moore, Zanair Moore, and Zamori Moore; two brothers: Robert Lee Jones (Ann) and Sinclair Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in passing by his sisters, Alice Torres, Pinkey Rawls and her husband, Butch Rawls; and nephews Chris and Walter Rawls.

George donated to St Jude Children's Research Hospital yearly. He was loved by all and will be missed. The memories that make you sad today are the memories that will make you smile in the days to come.

A viewing will be held on Saturday April 25th from 12PM until the service at 1PM, all at Bolock Funeral Home 6148 Paradise Valley Road Cresco, PA 18326. Burial will be private.
