From the loving perspective of his son Shannon, we honor the life of Mitchell Glenn Sims, affectionately known as "Mitch," born on July 24, 1944, in Waxahachie, TX. A humble, loving, reliable, and thoughtful man, Mitchell lived a life devoted to his family, ensuring their safety, happiness, and unity. He transitioned from our lives on March 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.

Mitchell was a crane operator by trade, employed at TXI Cement where his reliability was recognized with safety and no lost time awards. But he was much more than his occupation. Mitchell was a man who loved life and embraced it fully. He was always active and hardworking, whether he was meticulously caring for his lawn, casting out a fishing line, or shooting a few games of pool. Mitchell was also a man of games and enjoyed bowling, billiards, horseshoes, and washers. I once witnessed him kick a 45 yard field goal barefoot. He has an extensive knife collection that he loved to show off. His hobbies exhibited his playful spirit and his competitive edge. He once appeared on the Television show Bowling for Dollars. He enjoyed going on cruise ship vacations. He loved the caribbean but said Alaska was his favorite. Dad really loved attending church on Sundays. He was very fond of and proud to be a longtime member of the Oaks Church in Red Oak, Tx.

Mitchell was a loving and dedicated family man. He was the best "Pawpaw" ever, as his grandchildren would attest. His relationship with his family was guided by his faith and the scriptures he held dear, particularly John 3:16 ,1st Timothy 5:8, Roman's 7. 15-19, and Ecclesiastes 9:9. He was the epitome of a man who provided for his family, as he believed that the most meaningful thing in life was family loving one another and foregiveness. He leaves to cherish his memory his four children; Carrie O'Dell, Mitchell Sims Jr., Christie Sims and Shannon Greer. His grandchildren Kelly Donaldson, Olivia Childs, Ayana Greer, Sierra Greer and Kyrie Greer. As well as his twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Karen Sims, his parents, Leonard and Mary Sims, his grandson Chad Smith, and his siblings, Gene, Sonny, Helen, and Fran.

We invite all who knew and loved Mitchell to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page. His life was full of love and care, and we hope to keep his essence alive by sharing stories and moments that touched our lives.
