Richard William Kendall, age 91, of Lakewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, with the love of his family surrounding him. Born on January 13, 1935, in Jersey City, Richard grew up in West Orange, New Jersey, and attended Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair.

In 1954, Richard proudly enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he began working full time at Automatic Switch Company and attended night school at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he earned his degree in Economics. He dedicated 39 years of service to the company before retiring in 1996.

Richard met the love of his life, Nancy, and the two were married on April 28, 1962. Together they built their life in East Hanover, New Jersey, where they raised three boys, Paul, John, and Thomas. After retiring, Richard and Nancy settled in Toms River, in Greenbriar Woodlands, a community they loved deeply, before moving to Harrogate in Lakewood in 2024.

He lived a life filled with simple pleasures and deep commitments. Richard coached his sons in the local Little League. His patience, encouragement, and leadership made him unique both as a coach and Board Member of the East Hanover Baseball Association where he always worked hard to make the organization better for the players, teams and the league.

Richard also gave generously of his time and spirit through religious organizations, serving as an educator and as a Eucharistic minister. His faith was not simply something he practiced, but something he lived each day through kindness, humility, and service.

Richard loved golfing, gardening, dancing with Nancy, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling and vacationing, especially with his children and grandchildren.

He was deeply proud of his military service and remained an active member of the VFW in retirement, honoring his fellow veterans and the values they shared.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of his wife, sons, grandchildren, great grandchild, extended family, friends, fellow veterans, and all who were fortunate enough to experience his kindness and humility. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kendall; son John Kendall, wife Moira, and daughter Sara, son Thomas Kendall his wife Michele, daughter Amanda and son Charlie, son Paul Kendall wife Pamela and their children Kristen, Edward, Daniel, and Megan and one great grandson, Bennett John Armstrong and sister, Rosemary Geary.
