Joseph Lentini, known lovingly as Joe, passed away on August 5, 2026, in Lakewood, New Jersey, at the age of 93.

Born on November 8, 1932, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Joe lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and community. He was a Christian whose values were reflected in the way he treated others, and he was remembered by those who knew him as loving, funny, and intelligent. Joe carried himself with quiet strength and a warm sense of humor that made people feel welcome in his presence.

Joe served his country in the Army, an experience that helped shape the discipline, resilience, and sense of responsibility that would guide him throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a career as an engineer, where his intelligence and practical mind were put to good use. He approached his work with diligence and pride, and those who worked with him appreciated his steady nature and thoughtful approach to every challenge.

Above all else, Joe was a devoted family man. He was especially admired for the way he raised four young children alone, meeting the demands of parenthood with courage, patience, and unwavering love. His life was a testament to sacrifice and perseverance, and his family will always remember the example he set through his strength and selflessness. He was the kind of father who led by example, and the lessons he taught will continue to be carried forward through the generations.

Joe was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Lentini and Jeanne Lentini, and by his son, Joseph Lentini and his stepson Robert Logan. Though he endured profound losses in his lifetime, he remained steadfast and continued to be a source of comfort and support to those around him.

He is survived by his daughters, Diane Haake and her husband Brian, and Marilyn Montesano and her husband Paul; his son, Brian Lentini, and his wife Cynthia; his daughter in law Deborah Lentini; his stepdaughters, Sally Ammirato and her husband Mike, Mary Comerford and her husband John, and Nancy Logan; and his daughter-in-law, Anne Marie Logan. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, including Jessica Haake and her husband Andrew Preusse, Brian Haake and his wife Alyssa, Matthew Haake, Nicholas Montesano and his wife Rebecca, Justin Montesano, Joseph Lentini, Christopher Lentini, and Timothy Lentini. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Cameron Preusse, Madeline Preusse, Carson Haake, Maren Montesano, and Bennett Haake. Joe is also survived by many extended family members who will cherish his memory.

Joe enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and found joy in staying active and sharing time with others. He had a lifelong interest in golf, bowling, softball, basketball, and skiing, and these pastimes reflected his energetic spirit and love of friendly competition. Whether on the field, on the lanes, or on the golf course, he appreciated the camaraderie and enjoyment that came with being active and engaged.

Those who knew Joe will remember his humor, his intelligence, and the deep love he had for his family. He was a man of integrity and heart, and his presence brought comfort and laughter to many. His life was rich with accomplishment, devotion, and love, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Joseph Lentini’s long life was one of service, hard work, faith, and family. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who carry his memory in their hearts.
