Legacy Obituary changed from to Eva Medrano Hughes of Alice, Texas was called home to our heavenly Father on September 10, 2026. Eva was born May 6, 1936 to Frank and Juanita Medrano in Alfred, Texas and was raised on the family ranch in Orange Grove with her eight siblings. After graduating high school in 1956, she attended beauty school at Corpus Christi Beauty College and looked forward to Saturday dances at La Villite. She got married and in 1961 moved to San Diego, California. In 1972 she opened her own salon while raising three little ones. Exploring and learning about her catholic religion was her passion and she made many pilgrimages and trips around the world in her pursuit and collected many rosary’s along the way. Eva met her current husband Bobby Hughes in 1994 and was married in 1995 in San Diego, California where they resided until they moved to Farmersburg, Indiana to be closer to his family. They decided in their twilight years that they wanted to make Texas their final home and moved to Alice. Eva is survived by her brother, Frank Medrano of Plant City, FL; daughter Tami (Rob) Booth of Spanish Fort, AL; grandchildren Robert (Molly) Booth of Tucson, Arizona, Tessa Cole and Taylor (Austin) Hill of Spanish Fort, AL. And her six great-grandchildren, Keely, Kyrie, Alaina, Maddy, Jolie and Emmery. Many loving nieces and nephews and step-daughters, Amy Myers and Lora O’Dell. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Juanita Medrano; her husband Bobby Hughes; her sons, James and Michael Hobbs; her brothers Ray, Mayo, Julian, Willie and Balde Medrano and sisters, Rosa Garza and Bacilia Molt. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Holmgreen Mortuary from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM in Alice, Texas. A Holy Rosary is to be recited at 11:30 AM with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in 200 S. Metz St, Orange Grove, Texas. A Burial will follow at St. John of the Cross Cemetery in Orange Grove. Condolences for the family may be offered through www.holmgreenmortuaryinc.com or through our Holmgreen Mortuary Facebook page. Arrangements are by Holmgreen Mortuary, Alice, Texas, 78332.
