Louise Stephanie Goldberg, born on June 7, 1935, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at Whitestone Care Center in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. She was 91 years old.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Louise was the beloved daughter of the late Leroy and Betty (Stanger) Klapper. After graduating from Brooklyn College, Louise chose a lifetime career in elementary education, dedicating herself to shaping young minds. She began her teaching journey at a local yeshiva school before spending the majority of her meaningful career teaching children at P.S. 29 John M. Harrigan in Brooklyn.

In 1978, Louise and her husband, Lenny, moved their family to Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, where they built a beautiful life together. Louise became a deeply involved and vibrant member of her new community. She was very active in the A Pocono Country Place Senior Club, where she made lasting friendships and brought joy to those around her.

Upon her retirement, Louise and Lenny embraced a life of adventure. Together, they traveled across the United States, visiting countless iconic tourist attractions and making precious memories while reconnecting with friends along the way. Louise truly loved her card games and was an avid mahjong player, always enjoying the friendly competition, the strategy of the game, and the wonderful company of her fellow players. Above all, she remained a true, lifelong New York Mets fan, always cheering on her favorite team with passion.

Louise was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Leonard "Lenny" Goldberg, and her cherished son, Mark Kaplan.

Her greatest remaining joy was her family, who will miss her deeply. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Karen S. (Kaplan) Planchock; her former son-in-law, Stephen Planchock; her daughter-in-law, Nadine Steen Kaplan; her brother, Richard Klapper, and his wife, Teresa; and her cherished grandchildren, Adam Planchock, Tyler Planchock, Megan Kaplan, and John Steen. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Her legacy as a dedicated educator, an adventurous traveler, a community volunteer, and a loving matriarch will live on in the hearts of her family, her former students, and the many lives she touched over the years.

A funeral service will take place at 7:00P.M. in the Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco, Pa 18326 where the family will recieve friends and relatives from 5:00P.M. until the time of service.
